Song of the Day #130: Carl Czerny: Étude in D minor, Op. 740, no. 37.
Check out the left hand in this piece. Definitely a good one to learn if your right hand is stronger than your left (My case).

Piano Tip #7: Record yourself playing
Whenever you feel like you have achieved a certain level of completion with a technique or a song, record yourself. Or set goals, and record yourself every time you reach one. When you record yourself with the expectation of posting it online, you are learning to be confident in front of an audience, and it will greatly improve your playing. I record all of my songs on tape, and it has helped me become a better player throughout the past 2 years that I’ve been doing it.

I agree with this tip very much and I’ve been doing it since the very beginning of my exploration with the piano. I listen to some of the recordings from 3 years ago and laugh at how inexperienced my playing was. It’s great to hear your growth from one year to the next. What would be an interesting experiment is to record one song every year for the next 10 years to see how that song changes as you study the piano.

Play Me, I’m Yours: An Outdoor Piano Project

A great video of the wonderful art project called: “Play Me, I’m Yours.” If you havent heard of this yet, check it out!
I got to play about 12 of those pianos. Some were beaten up, some were amazing. This was still an amazing project and I hope they continue this tradition every year to come.

Editors: No sound but the wind (live @ Glastonbury 2010)
it’s a really beautiful song.. Tom Smith is my favourite singer, his voice is a miracle. This song, “No sound but the wind” was featured on the New Moon OST, but I chose the live version, because that’s slower and I like it better. But the studio version is great too. Tom sings this song in live with different lyric, because he wrote it originally to his son, but he created an other version for the OST of the New Moon, with different lyric. I love both of the versions.

I agree. I think it is a beautiful song as well. I heard the Editors once, but i wasn’t as into them as i was with this song. His voice is very operatic and bold. It almost makes you shutter because you don’t hear many rock or pop artists with such deep vibrant voices. It is a very passionate song that makes me listen more to the lyrics than the music itself. Here is the studio recording.
