Song of the Day #23- Astor Piazzolla- Milonga del Angel
This is, in my opinion, one of the most passionate and intense songs i ever heard. It sounds like something you would hear in a movie… “a couple is torn apart, they dont see each other for years, and then one day, they meet once again for a tango to be remembered forever.” It’s absolutely beautiful. Nothing else to be said. There is piano in the song, but it isnt the most essential instrument in the piece. It is the Bandoneon.

R E S P E C T your P I A N O.
So, I have about 10 songs memorized…Jazz and classical but the problem is: I cant seem to get them up to speed without making so many mistakes.
I began taking the time to practice my songs as slow as possible. I play them so slow that they are barely recognizable. It’s really helping me so much and helps me focus more.
It made me realize that the Piano isnt just about playing the notes and “pushing buttons”, its a mental game and it will bring you down if you don’t treat your practices with respect. R E S P E C T your piano.
Song of the Day #21: Consuelo Velazquez- Besame Mucho (1968)
This song was written by Consuelo Velazquez even before she was ever kissed! She was inspired by one of Enrique Granados Goyescas. This song is another song that will forever be remembered by the music community as a standard. And that way she plays it is Unbelievable!!!!! Funny, i dont think I have many female musicians on this tumblr. Consuelo Velazquez has some serious chops on the piano. She does these amazing dramatic gestures through the piano that make this recording so majestic. Enjoy!
Here are the original lyrics:
Bésame, bésame mucho,
Como si fuera esta noche la última vez.
Bésame, bésame mucho,
Que tengo miedo a perderte, perderte después.
Quiero tenerte muy cerca,
Mirarme en tus ojos, verte junto a mí.
Piensa que tal vez mañana
Yo ya estaré lejos, muy lejos de tí.
Bésame, bésame mucho,
Como si fuera esta noche la última vez.
Bésame, bésame mucho,
Que tengo miedo a perderte, perderte después.
Translation:
Kiss me, kiss me a lot,
As if tonight were the last time.
Kiss me, kiss me a lot,
I fear to lose you, to lose you afterward.
I want to have you very close,
See myself in your eyes, see you next to me.
Think that maybe tomorrow
I’ll be far, far away from you.
Kiss me, kiss me a lot,
As if tonight were the last time.
Kiss me, kiss me a lot,
I fear to lose you, to lose you afterward.
Como si fuera esta noche la última vez.
Bésame, bésame mucho,

Rowan Atkinson- “The Piano Player”
This is a brilliant comedy bit done by Rowan Atkinson, who everyone got to know as Mr. Bean. A mix of mime, classical music, and some comedic flair makes this a must see video for every pianist.
Hilarious!

Song of the Day #20: Kenny Dorham- Blue Bossa (Played by Tommy Flanagan)
Here is a Jazz tune that has been played so many times and so many different ways, it is virtually a Jazz standard. This song by Kenny Dorham (a trumpet player) is so catchy with its latin feel that it makes you want to dance or swing your hips from side to side. One of my personal favorites to play, Blue Bossa is very simple, with only 7 easy chords to memorize. This song is written in stone and will be remembered forever as a Jazz classic.

#16 Song of the Day: Coldplay-Clocks (live in Amsterdam)
This song sort of reminds me of techno music. And by the way the audience reacts to the song in this video, suggests the same feeling. The addictive piano riff in the chorus has this nostalgic sound that kind of makes you feel like you are floating through space without any real direction. This is Coldplay’s most famous song, and you have to admit it, its catchy, it has passion, and it doesn’t even matter what the song is about. This song makes me realize that music doesn’t have to be so complex: the simpler the better.

#15 Song of the Day: Bob Marley- Jammin’
Not all of Bob Marley’s music utilizes a piano. Jammin’ is a song that captures that chill Reggae spirit. Unlike alot of music we hear today, the song contains little bits of nuance from the bass player and the piano player that breathes life into the song. Bob Marley will always be the representative of Peace, love, unity, and Jamaica!
If you really want to listen to some chill Jam music, listen to his early recordings. Talkin’ Blues is a great album.

This is pretty amazing. I wonder what they have in there? I also wonder where that is located.

I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone that hated the Beatles.
#13 Song of the Day: The Beatles- Hey Jude
This is a classic song by the Beatles that will never be forgotten. It has to be on this list, there’s no excuses. The Beatles were pioneers of music and were one of the groups in the 60’s that took Blues and made it into Rock N’ Roll. Without them, we probably wouldn’t have half the rock music we have today. This song is particular is very simple in structure and chords. Anyone can learn how to play this track.

This thing looks like a Piano Spaceship! I have no idea how you would move something of this size.
New and Innovative Piano instrument built by Luigi Borgato. It is made up of two concert-grand pianos. The lower concert grand is used as a pedalboard of 37 notes.
What do you think of this?
