Don’t play what’s there, play what’s not there.

Really cool! I wonder where this was found…I also wish I could see it better. Or maybe that’s me losing my eye sight?
Here’s a link to a better version.

ELECTRIC SUNDAY # 14: Miles Davis- Miles Runs the Voodoo Down
It took me a long time to get into this album and appreciate what it’s worth. It’s not something ordinary, in fact its very much extraordinary! Once you find a way to appreciate this album, you will have countless hours to make discoveries as you listen.
This song is a one of a kind. There is nothing like it. It’s from the revolutionary album titled, Bitches Brew. This is where Jazz and Rock collide in an abstract fashion. In my opinion, i think Miles makes this song very sexy and seductive. It’s as if the band becomes an untamed wild beast in a Jungle. It even becomes very frightening when the electric pianos come in.
The band consists of about 11 instruments including 2 bassists, 2 drummers, and 2 Electric Pianos. It is the Ultimate combination of instruments and musicians, check out this lineup!
- Miles Davis - trumpet
- Wayne Shorter - soprano saxophone
- Bennie Maupin - bass clarinet
- Joe Zawinul - electric piano - Left
- Chick Corea - electric piano - Right
- John McLaughlin - electric guitar
- Dave Holland - electric bass
- Harvey Brooks - electric bass
- Don Alias - drum set - Left
- Jack DeJohnette - drum set - Right
- Juma Santos (credited as “Jim Riley”) - congas

Before leaving you tonight, I will leave you with one of the softest, sweetest songs to go to sleep with….
Flamenco Sketches from Kind of Blue by Miles Davis.
This song, for me, is one of the reasons why I am alive.

Wow! I’ve never seen this. This is amazing! You really get to see Miles’ demeanor. I always heard that he didnt care for what people wanted in his music. He did what he wanted to do and thats all. A true artist.
