Welcome to DotanNegrin.com, where one can stroll in like a blank canvas and walk out with an infinite amount of colors to take home.
With this blog I wanted to create a place where I could talk to people around the world about traveling, unique music from all genre’s, and opinions about whats going on in the world. I have a wealth of information and music that I have acquired through my experiences and I would love to share them with you. I seek to inspire people so that they can then inspire me.
Who is behind the Piano?
My name is Dotan (Doh-tahn) Negrin and I am 25 years old, living in Dix Hills, New York. I am a first generation American born and raised in New York City and Long Island. My mother is from Israel and my father is from Greece…hence, the name, Dotan.
At 24, I have already been through almost every phase of music throughout the years. Since day 1, I remember my parents putting on Elvis before I went to bed, and I also had an obsession with my Michael Jackson cassette tapes and his dance moves. I played the clarinet when I was in Elementary school and became interested in Gershwin and big band Jazz. As a kid I always heard oldies when I drove around with my Dad. I can pretty much sing all of those Oldies.
On a trip to Israel I started listening to Techno and House music. 90’s Rock and Classic rock was thrown in there in Middle School.
In High School, everyone was into Hip Hop: 50 Cent, Notorious BIG, and Tupac were mostly my influences during those times. When I got to college, i was thrown full stream into the sounds of Miles Davis and Bill Evans, which led me to begin playing piano. Since then, I have never found anything else that I was more passionate about.
Right now, i listen to a variety of genre’s and occassionally I love to dabble back in time to my old loves. Recently, I have been more interested in 60’s and 70’s Rock as well as Classical Piano music.

I recently traveled across America with my piano and dog for 5 months, playing on the streets of many of the cities in this country. Check out my adventure: www.PianoAcrossAmerica.com
